1. Two styles of Tea Ceremony in Japan
We have two styles of Tea Ceremony in Japan.
One is Sencha style in which Leaf green tea is used.
The other is Sado style in which Powdered green tea?is used.
In Sencha style leaf green tea is put in a tea pot and
brewed in hot water to extract the tea aroma.
In Sado style powdered green tea is put in a tea bowl,
then pour hot water in the bowl and stir the powder
with stirring tool to extract tea aroma.
2. What is Sencha style.
Sencha style is not only a way to enjoy drinking tea
but also to find a spirituality in drinking tea.
The core of the spirituality is called “nothingness”
in Zen Buddhaism.
Nothingness means to throw out all the selfishness in
the worldly life. Through drinking tea in a certain way,
we hope to reach a state of “nothingness.”
